Description

Join Future World's Mentor Simon Kerry for his talkResilience and serendipity: how we built a biotech company’.

Simon will focus on real-life examples of the journey that Karus made in taking the company from a University spinout to clinical-stage company, looking at the challenges and how these were addressed.

Simon is an experienced business expert who has managed a number of early stage life science companies, helping them to grow and achieve success. Simon was headhunted to become CEO of a University of Southampton spinout, Karus Therapeutics where he helped to build the company through a challenging time whilst securing a major investment. The business is now well regarded in the UK biotech sector as it works to transform the lives of cancer patients that no longer respond to other treatments.

This talk will also feature an exclusive pitch from Ali Mosayyebi, an engineering PhD student who has designed, prototyped and patented a new type of urinary stent.

The Future Worlds Mentor Masterclass series allows students and staff at the University of Southampton exclusive access to learn from entrepreneurs and industry experts as well as an exclusive opportunity to see pitches and product demos from startups and spinouts in the Future Worlds network.
